How can i start using IIT bazaar?

• To access IIT bazaar services you have to be a current student/staff/faculty member of IIT. If you are, your email account username and password can be used to log into this site. The first time you log into the members section you will be requested to enter your name and specify options for your account. Click here for the login page. Happy buying and selling!

Using IIT bazaar

How long will my advert be visible to other users?

• Adverts will remain in our database for 45 days after which it will be deleted.

How to browse items

• You can choose a specific category to view ads under it or click on the "Search" tab and enter the phrase of the item you are looking for.

How to post items

• Students are required to follow the guidelines prescribed in the Student Handbook with regards to all postings on IIT bazaar.
  Click on the "Submit ad" button on the top menu bar to post items.

How do I contact the seller or buyer?

• Usually the seller or buyer includes his or her contact information in the message body.
  In cases where the contact information is not available you can email the buyer or seller by clicking on his or her name listed on the posting.

How do I modify or remove/delete my posting?

• NOTE: Postings can be modified OR removed only by the person who posted them on IIT bazaar.
  
  First of all, you need to login to your account and then click on the "Edit ad" link on the left menu. All ads submitted by you will be displayed and you will be given the option to modify/delete each entry.

I cannot login using my email id and password

• Ensure that you are using your full email address (e.g. yourname@iit.edu) as your username and your email password.

Who do I contact if I have problems logging into IIT bazaar??

• If you have problems logging into IIT bazaar please check login issues, if that doesn't resolve your problem please email bazaar@iit.edu with your problem.

Why can't I post my books on IIT bazaar?

• The University has a contract with the Bookstore which prohibits such online sales of text books.
  
  Specifically the contract between IIT and the Bookstore states:
  
  "The Bookstore shall be Illinois Institute of Technology's exclusive buyer and seller all required, recommended or suggested course materials, tools, including books, course packs, computer software, and materials published or distributed electronically, or sold over the Internet."



• To prevent all restricted transactions of any sort, 'free book' postings or 'have any course X materials?' ads are forbidden. This ban aids in maintaining IIT Bazaar's integrity as a community site.

Why can't I post my Upass or solicit for one?

• This is not only forbidden, but according to city law, it is illegal:
  
  "U-Pass is limited to exclusive use by the full-time student whose name and photo appear on the card. Any U-Pass presented by a person other than the student whose name and photo appears on it will be confiscated and the person may be subject to arrest."
